About the Artist — Julia Pewsey

After graduating from the North Essex School of Art in Colchester, I worked in several design studios and became a freelance illustrator in 1990. Since then I have done artwork mainly for greetings cards, magazines and giftware, with animals and wildlife as my main subjects.

Stonham Barns 2006 I have always loved painting animals and after producing pet portraits for family and friends, decided to concentrate on this area.

Watercolour on a tinted board is my favourite medium as it enables me to produce highly detailed paintings made from many layers of colour, which I aim to make as realistic as possible.

Over the years I have painted many commissions and my work has travelled worldwide. I have also been on local radio and my work has been shown in various exhibitions.
